HEALTH-RELATED MATTERS: Physical Activity for Students in Elementary Grades The district will ensure that students in elementary school engage in at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day or 135 minutes per week. Students in middle or junior high school participate in a daily physical exercise program. For additional information on the district’s requirements and programs regarding elementary, middle, and junior high school student physical activity requirements, please see the principal. School Health Advisory Council Information regarding the district’s School Health Advisory Council is available from the building principals or the school nurse. Vending Machines The district has adopted policies and implemented procedures to comply with agency and food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines. Other Health-Related Matters Tobacco Prohibited The district and its staff strictly enforce prohibitions against the use of tobacco products by students and others on school property and at school-sponsored and school-related activities. Asbestos Management Plan The district’s Asbestos Management Plan, designed to be in compliance with state and federal regulations, is available in the superintendent’s office. Pest Management Plan The district applies only pest control products that comply with state and federal guidelines. Except in an emergency, signs will be posted 48 hours before application. Parents who want to be notified prior to pesticide application inside their child’s school assignment area may contact the superintendent. ****Parents can now request in writing their child's physical fitness assessment results at the end of the school year. Requests in writing must be submitted to the building principal.
