Today is the 100th Day of School! Kindergarten teachers are looking a little old today!
Fifty years, five decades, half a century. Boo Lynch is one of the few people to have accomplished working for one organization for fifty years. And even though the saying is true that “All good things must come to an end”, Crawford Schools have certainly had a good thing in having Billy Lu (Boo) Lynch as bookkeeper/business manager for fifty years. Now, Boo has decided that fifty years is long enough and is retiring. And some things will never be the same for Crawford. We celebrate Boo and her incredible service by considering some things you might or might not know about Boo. Examples of things you might not know about Boo: • During high school at Crawford High School, as a sophomore she was selected the “Most Athletic Girl “. She was the “Football Sweetheart” her junior year, and as a senior, she was recognized as the “Best All-Around Student”. • At a pep rally, she had everyone laughing when she did a pantomime of Andy Griffith’s “What it Was, Was Football”; • During Superintendent Kenneth Judy’s first year as superintendent, she played a trick on Mr. Judy by typing in the name of Crawford ISD in a list of schools looking for a superintendent; • When she began keeping minutes for board meetings, she kept them in short hand; • She was/is a rather quiet Democrat in a largely Republican area, unless you ask her if she voted for President George W. Bush-whose ranch is close to her ranch land; • As a Christian and a faithful member of the Methodist church, Boo would challenge some of her Baptist friends by asking “Do you know who so and so is in the bible?” in an attempt to prove that Methodists knew the bible better than Baptists. • She has not aged since 2017…. note that her yearbook picture is the same every year since 2017. Things you probably do know about Boo: • She doesn’t like it when Crawford loses in any sport/event; • If you get keys to a school vehicle, she wants them back yesterday and with mileage noted; • She is persnickety about following rules (and others following them too); • She has a great sense of humor and loves to tell a good joke or hear one as evidenced by her knee-slapping laughter; • She has a soft spot for animals of all kinds; • She takes pride in her work and rarely missed work; So Boo, as much as we will miss you, now it is time to say a heartfelt “Thank You.” And a sincere “Best Wishes”. These words are direct and true as you have always been.
